Get an amyloid PET scan. Amyloid combined with your symptoms of mild cognitive impairment is a positive Alzheimer’s diagnosis. That’s how I was diagnosed to be eligible for a drug study.

Tiff, dementia usually does not show rapid symptoms that get worse every day. Did you recently give birth? Parturition can throw your hormones out of whack. Have you had extensive neurocognitive testing by a neuropsychologist? There are many dementia mimics.

Tiff some medical dementia mimics may have a rapid onset, but you say you have been tested for many diseases. Prion diseases, which are like mad cow disease, are of rapid onset and progression.

It is important to document a deterioration in cognition over time. If you had testing six months ago, and then today testing showed a decline, that would br significant. Are your doctors following you? Are you on any medication? How are you managing at home?

Unfortunately, diagnosing the dementias often takes a long time. It is important for you and your family to document changes and report to your neurologist. Also check your medications for side effects. In the meantime, continue with Best Practices as best you can.
