My mom wants me to be POA over finance and medical. I am on disability plus Medicare and Medicaid. Do I still qualify?

    My mom has a lawyer and I plan to see her soon. I have so many questions. But I am very high functioning despite my disability. I am taking a lot of responsibility caretaking both parents with dementia and I'm the only one helping them.

    There's nothing prohibiting anyone who's on disability from being a POA. The question is do you feel you're up to the task of handling your mom's financial affairs? It's a lot of paperwork--and hassle. Are you able to handle your own bills, banking, phone, etc.?

    @BassetHoundAnn

    Taking care of my parent's financial affairs will be new to me. I am very good with handling my own affairs. That's why my mom trusts me to assist her with matters of business. I just feel a little nervous taking responsibility with their finances and I need to know someone who can help me in case I don't know what to do.
