Consider what levels of physical care they can provide when looking at MC for the elderly

If you have an elderly LO and are looking at MC make sure you check out under what medical conditions they can stay. Some will not take people in wheelchairs. Some will only take people who can get in and out of the wheelchair with a single assist. But many will allow residents who need more help to stay.

At what point will you be asked to hire extra help? Can they handle oxygen, injectable medications? Do they have a lift? Can they deal with someone who needs to use a sideboard to get in and out of bed to wheel chair?

My LO was recently hospitalized with a broken hip and surgery. It was a huge weight off my shoulders when the MC told me, "Don't worry, we will be glad to have them back. We have done this before. We got you." I felt 10 years younger.

It is also a reason to think carefully about letting go of their bed or room in MC if they are in rehab for an extended period. MCs will take residents back under conditions that they may not admit new residents.
