Sometimes just when you think you understand and bracing for the move of your parent to MC, it doesn't happen.....and you have to regroup.

Oh my god this piece was so sad and described so well the anguish of navigating these choices. It was a crisis that moved my mom into MC. It seems they (facilities) want to wait until it’s absolutely necessary, which I too question the wisdom of. I wish all the very best for your family and Joy.

It is a hard decision. All I can suggest is to keep your Plan B updated. Facilities change and you do not want to be caught placing your loved one in a facility that has gone south when it is an emergency.

It is a hard decision and one we typically can not make in isolation. Fortunately, Joy is in a care facility which seems stable and caring. Thanks for your comments. NeverFearTheDream
