Zoning out?
Lately I have caught myself zoning out. I don't know when it starts or if there is a trigger. I will be playing a game on the computer and next thing I know I am staring at the screen unsure for how long and then it takes a moment to figure out what I'm doing or need to do. Like press the roll button. It happens when I'm watching a show. I suddenly become aware that something is going on in my show but I can't understand it. So I will rewind and see I had zoned for anywhere from 3 to 7 minutes. Sorry hard to explain but hope I did enough that anyone else this happens to can talk about this with me. Mainly I am concerned it's yet another tell that I am progressing in this disease.

I don't think zoning out means progression. I wonder if your brain is falling asleep, like in narcolepsy.

Not sure if NY brain is sleeping just know for sure I am blanking with minutes ticking away. I see my neurologist on the 5th, so I will be bringing this up with him. Was just wondering if anyone else experienced this.
Iris are you also dealing with dementia or are you an advocate/counselor on this site? Hope my question doesn't offend I am just curious as you seem to have a lot of knowledge.

I have been on this site since 2008 and yes, I have learned quite a lot, from the patients and from the caregivers. What I have learned here I could not have learned from my doctors.
My diagnosis is cognitive impairment not otherwise specified, which means that my cognitive issues are due to conditions other than Alzheimer's Disease or the other dementias. In my case, these conditions include hypertension, systemic lupus, antiphospholipid syndrome and sleep apnea.
I am not offended, ask any question. Write down what you want to ask the neurologist. I have a notebook in which I write all of my appointments, what I want to ask, what was discussed, treatments suggested, and next appointment. I also write down if I have any unusual events, such as a bad dizzy spell that I had a couple of years ago.
