Call 911 immediately + explain the medical issues. He should be transported to the ER + then to a geri psych ward to be assessed + treated. Whether you want to believe it or not, this man could be very very dangerous to you, your daughter + grand daughter.

If he has a doctor, he should be contacted immediately as well. Your daughter of course should be informed.

’She is not taking it personally’ Maybe not, but she should be taking it seriously + it seems she is not.

Agree completely that he needs emergency psych admission, he is a danger to himself and others. Does your daughter hold power of attorney for him for healthcare and finances? she needs it if not already taken care of. But absoluately, he doesn't need to be in jail, he probably needs to be in a memory care facility AFTER a psych admission. So sorry.

Yes, please do your duty as a mandated reporter and a loving parent/grandparent/in-law. He is not in control, dementia is, and it can be lethal. Even with PWDs who are not as young and strong as he is. I am so sorry you all are going through this, but thank goodness you are clear on what to do. Immediately is not soon enough.

Trigger warning: these articles are graphic description of a spouse who did not make it. Make that call now. You are not overthinking it and can actually get him the help he needs also, to not spend the rest of his days in prison for following through on what he is threatening.
