Hi! I am a caregiver for my Mom 77 who lives an hour and a half away. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in January and we are getting to the point of concern with her living on her own and that far away. She REFUSES to move out of her house. I have POA and can make decisions for her, including purchasing a home. I would live if she would participate in this process instead of us having to force it. What do I do??? How do you go about moving someone that refuses to move??? HELP 🥺😩

Spend some time reading posts here about how others have effected the move of their LOs. If you expect agreement from your mother through persuasion or logic, you will not get it. Make a plan of action + then implement it. Including your mother in the decision making will simply cause agitation + digging in of heels on her part.

Find a facility + when you want to move her, take her there ‘for lunch’ . She can be told ‘doctor’s orders’ or necessity of repairs on her home or whatever keeps her calm.

I’m afraid you’re gong to have grit your teeth and to do what you have to do, probably without her knowledge or assent.
