My mom is in Memory Care. It is becoming more difficult because her anxiety is increasing and not managed well. Trying to decide if we need to move her for more daily support. Can you help me understand the difference between Memory Care vs Nursing Home. I’d like to get her a sitter but it seems too expensive.

In my experience, Memory Care should be providing a LOT of daily support. Do they have a medical dr on site? Nurses? If not, it may be worth it to have her see either a neurologist or geriatric psychiatrist to see if she can get medication.

I know how frustrating it is to feel your LO’s needs are not being met.

Have you talked with the staff about it?

I had my mom in a nursing home recently for short-term rehab, then moved to memory care. In my limited experience, dementia support is much better in memory care. Smaller population, smaller resident to staff ratio, staff who are more accustomed to dementia issues. Suggest talking with the medical director or head nurse about your mom's anxiety and your ideas on what is most helpful for her.
