Need to ensure Mom takes her meds

My Mom is on an antibiotic and needs to take it twice a day. She was forgetting so I got her the med-elert pill dispenser. She took the pills out, but dropped one dose on the floor and left it there. She took the evening dose out, but left it on the counter.

she told me that she’s positive she took her pills. I’m not sure what to do. She has a caregiver 3 mornings a week and they can get her to take her meds, but I’m worried about the other days and the evenings.

State law doesn’t allow caregivers to administer pills. any suggestions would be appreciated.

Nothing short of giving it yourself and watching her take it is going to work. Sorry.

    Hi epaula,

If this seems new I'd ask her provider to rule out a UTI.

Or it may be that mom's dropping pills and then not picking them up could indicate that there's been some progression and she needs daily support.
