Dh went home
I haven’t written much in a while because of the fast progression that has been happening with my husband. Took him to the VA ER last Friday thinking maybe he had a UTI, he had so many of the symptoms, except for saying “I want to die, why can’t I just die “. They kept him in the hospital and this Saturday 3/16, he got his wish. This past week was so hard, they had given him some strong anti psychotic medication on Saturday night (the 9 th) and he had a horrible reaction to it and never came out of it. But he is in a better place. All our kids and their spouses were there. We were supposed to bring him home Monday and had hospice setup. He went peacefully. We had 54 years together and it was not enough but I am glad that he is now free from the tight restrictions of dementia!
I don’t think I could have made if not for so special people on this forum. My prayers are with each of you still going through it.

Having just been in the same place with my sister (she passed on 3/6), I know how difficult those last couple of weeks can be. Please get some rest and take care of yourself.

I want to thank each and everyone of you for your kind words of support and your prayers. They mean more than words can express. I know I would never have made it through this horrible disease with my husband if not for your shared experiences and your knowledge and kindness. With much respect and appreciation. My prayers for all of you still going through this journey and for all the new ones just starting their journey. One thing I learned, be kind to yourself and just breathe.
