Sharing positive news!
A memory care/assisted living evaluated and accepted my husband! He moved two days ago. It is a ten minutes drive and he tolerated the move very well, even rolling his own suitcase! He has a private room and shower and there are one half as many residents as his former nursing home. I thank God that this facility opened up for him (and our family). We were initially informed it was two year private pay prior to their accepting state aid, but then a call back an hour later informing that they had permission from management to accept his state aid! I think the timing must have been spot on and maybe not a waitlist? Unbelievably happy and relieved. It feels like a doable, peaceful, forever home. The facility’s ownership is a member of Alzheimer’s Organization. Every month they sponsor community events for fund raising for the cure and also provide monthly caregiver support meetings on site. ❤️🙏

Great news all around for sure. I hope it does become a “doable, peaceful, forever home”. I stopped by DH’s MCF on Tuesday, first time since he passed one year ago. It truly was like going home. He was so loved and cared for during his 17 month residence; it was heartwarming. The office staff came out to greet me and the caregiver on duty on Tuesday was the one who sat with us after “quitting time” to see him through transition. Even the cook came out to say how much she had enjoyed DH and how much he was missed. It was bittersweet, but comforting. I hope you find such peace.
