Just reading if you have Alzheimer’s you have Dementia, but if you have Dementia don’t have Alz

    not quite exact. if you have dementia, you may or may not have Alzheimer’s. Dementia is the generic term for several different diagnoses. Alzheimer’s is one of those. FTD, Lewy-body, and vascular dementia are some others.

    Right. Alzheimer's is a type of dementia. It's one of the most common types, but there are others. This is pretty good:

    I would question those percentages and add in the "dementia" caused by things whch are treatable

    Testing will show what areas are affected. Note…the drugs used in treatment are not the same!!!

    Those percentages seem off to me as well. Given that current thinking in some quarters is that the majority of PWD have mixed dementia— mostly ALZ and VD it does seem off. Way off.

    I would not include the conditions that mimic dementia symptoms under the umbrella as many are potentially reversable to some degree. Pernicious anemia and myxedema, for example, are largely treatable.
