So after 7 months of living in WI and being miserable almost every single day- no sunshine, no warmth, nothing familiar etc…my LO has finally returned to her beloved state of SC.

She seems much happier now that she's in the sunshine. (I know that temporarily living in her home has a great deal to do with that happiness, but seeing my brother, old friends, familiar places and faces has a great deal to do with that too) I THINK we did the right thing.

We're moving her into AL in a week and then I'm leaving. She's extremely unhappy/ depressed thinking about moving into AL because she doesn't want to leave her home and her experience in WI was so rotten. (It was in SL and she needed more support.)

I'm worried about her because when I leave, I don't think anyone will care for her like I do. But ironically, I think my caring for her actually causes her emotional stress. And when she's stressed, I get stressed…it's a toxic relationship.

She has lived in SC for almost 40 years, this is her safe place. And when she moved to WI she clung to me as if drowning. I tried to keep both of our heads above water. She always wanted more air, regardless of what the cost was to me. I'm mentally and emotionally exhausted/ drained and she isn't any better off.

We should have started this journey in SC and ended in WI but we didn't. She asked to "try" WI first so we honored that request.

Now we're back in SC but we do have a lovely MC facility ready for her back in WI should SC not work. (An extra step none of us anticipated. )

Has anyone else experienced something similar?

Any suggestions on how to ease my concerns?
