NIGHTMARES
Has any one had any nightmares? I have quite a few. The last one that I had was where I am raped by 2 men one held me down while the other one f——d me then they took turns and the other one did the same then they forced me to give each one a b—- job. I woke up screaming and sweating profusely.
Well this morning while getting dressed for the first time in quite sometime the wall on the bedroom started to close in on me sad again it scared the crap out of me.

I never had that experience, but when I have had a disturbing dream, I fill my head with pleasant images, and hope that some will stick in my mind.

I was diagnosed earlier this year, and started taking donepezil. Early on, I had several very vivid and intense dreams; several were rather violent and frightening, but some were vivid but rather pleasant. They subsided after a month or two. It appears that dreams like this are one of the side effects of donepezil.

I was diagnosed last November and have been on donepezil since January and like you I have had some good dreams but mostly frightening ones I usually wake up screaming and sweating profusely. My wife tells me to take some deep breaths and that helps me to calm down.

WEll I went to Memorial Breakfast for Veterans and for the first time In a long time the noise started to get to me so I turned off my hearing aids to stop the noise and it helped a lot. The noise really slowed down when the speeches started. I'm going to a show later I hope the noise won't be to bad
Went to the show turned my hearing aids off and my wife gave one of my pills to stop me from having the rooms from closing in on me it works.

I had horrifying nightmares the FIRST night I took Donepezil, so I stopped taking it. I don’t have family or children depending on me, so I’ve chosen to let nature take its cruel course. I do have supportive friends, which help me through the rough times. If I could, I would trade places with you. Good luck on this unwelcome journey for which we sure didn’t sign up.

Welcome Kate. Please look into the other aspects of Best Practices and alternative therapies to help you function better and to help prolong the early stages.
--Mediterrean diet
--vigorous exercise to tolerance
--brain stimulation
--socialization
Restful sleep
Avoid stress
Consider aromatherapy or other alternative therapies. Look into music and art therapies.
Develop a philosophy. Think about what you still can do, instead of what you can no longer do.
None of these modalities are intended to be a cure for dementia.

Iris you're right going to bed and be fearful of nightmares. I had a good weekend with no nightmares. but I did fall on the wet floor in the bathroom I did not get hurt but my wife and I decided that it would be best that I go to the VA home when I am told that I have a place, She is 5 years older Than I am. She is 83 and I am 78 and it is getting difficult for her to take care of me.

You’re stronger than I am! The horrifying dreams I had on my FIRST night taking Donepezil really shook me up, so I decided against taking it anymore.

I am thankful that the new pills the doctor gave me have changed my nightmares to nice dreams sometimes I wake myself up singing or laughing that is so much better than screaming and scaring my wife.
I have been told by my wife the I have been saying improper things. I do not know what they were. I am wondering if it is my ALZ acting up

On my phone, I'm able to translate any foreign language into English.

David, I'm sorry about your fall. All of us have to be more cautious about falls as we get older. Check out a few YouTube videos about fall prevention and fall recovery. People fall even at the VA home. The difference is they have strong workers to get you up.

Thank you for your concern. I now am using a rollator around the house all the time now and it is a lot easier than I thought it would be to use around the house. I fought my wife or a couple of days but after I used it, I knew that she was right.

You have been going out a lot these past few days, David. Perhaps you overdid it. Be sure to take rest breaks and to stay hydrated. Perhaps this can help.

I agree we have been going out a lot the last couple of weeks most of the time it has been doctor appointments. They are finally slowing down only my exercise class on Tuesday and my INR appointment on Friday. May be my wife and I will have more time to sit on our rocking chairs and relax by reading and drinking a cold drink on our screened in porch, the last couple of days we have had our breakfast out there and it was fantastic.

It's been several days since I have woken up screaming only waking up relaxed and it feels good.
I don't have anything else scheduled for at least 10 days. This will give myself and my wife time to recover. Depending upon the weather we hope to go visit my sister in law and brother in law sometime next week and have a nice visit without thinking about dr appointments etc. which will be wonderful.
Went to the senior center today and had a nice lunch for Father's Day.

This sounds good, David. We don't have to be on the go all the time. Your screened in porch sounds nice!
