Feeling down

Might have to move my mom. Lots of problems at her place. Three more people moved out. She’s deteriorating. Looking at other places, and meeting with the director next week. She went to the ER last Wednesday again (long story, she’s fine) and there was no follow up, except by staff who really do care about her. Their solution was more seroquel and now she just seems sedated. Next week I’ll call her primary to see what she thinks about the dose. I’m staying positive - we have options - but it’s just so hard to see her like this. And to be so disappointed when I’m paying so much.

ugh so exhausting, I know. I moved my partner about a year ago after ongoing, persistent problems at her first facility (part of a national chain that is having problems). Definitely explore your options and glad some are available.

@M1 totally. And I am so grateful to have family to talk it through with. When my siblings said they would support me but couldn’t be involved with care I didn’t know what it would mean. I’m leaning on them more for support, input, and time to talk through decision-making and only now realize how valuable it is. I hope someone reading this who’s in that role realized how enormously valuable it is.

So sorry you are having to look for a new place. I hope that you find what your mom needs. There's always some new challenge on this journey!

I agree with you about sibling support being a huge blessing. Even though I am the "boots on the ground" for my mom locally, I appreciate being able to run stuff by my sister for her perspective. We are very different personalities, and sometimes she can see the forest when I am focused on the trees. It helps.
