Rapid Progression of Dementia or Alzheimer's

Has anyone experienced a parent with Alzheimer's having a sudden rapid progression of their disease? My mother was able to walk just a month ago. She began becoming unstable so we got her a walker. The walker wasn't cutting it so we got her a wheelchair. She seemed weak. One morning we weren't able to get her up and about. She is in memory care. We have Vitas come to check her out and she was in A-Fib. We got her on medication pretty quickly, but since hasn't been very awake/aware. It's hard to get her up or out of bed at all. She falls asleep quickly.

We're wondering if this is a natural progression or if there is something else going on. They can't seem to find anything else causing this.

Thank you.
