DH got evaluated at memory clinic

After 5 yrs of declining health, cognitive impairment diagnosis 3 years ago and 2 strokes in the past 2 yrs, DH finally got evaluated at memory clinic. Surprisingly clinician Saud he did not see alz. Cognitive impairment and possible early VD. His short term memory is getting much worse, understanding of language is a real issue, extremely disruptive sleep every night...up/down 20x a night, twitching, thrashing, startles awake, confused and agitated. He wakes me up asking questions that make no sense..... They put him on melatonin OTC for sleep and an antidepressant..… Anybody out there dealing with this nighttime nightmare? Noone is leering at our house and it's been every night for 5 years! I'm struggling!

Seroquel could potentially help your husband get more sleep. Have you described these symptoms to your loved one’s dementia clinician?

I second that suggestion. seroquel worked very well for my partner's sleep fragmentation.

You sound like you need a second opinion. Look for a geriatric psychiatrist who treats PWDs.
