Help and Advice Needed

Hello all I am new to this forum and could use some advice. I have been taking care of my mother who is 85 with moderate stage dementia for a year and half now. I have noticed over the past month her behavior has changed quite a bit. Recently I've noticed she has become more aggressive with my Father and I. She has had this hallucination and fixation for several years that she has something on her back and wants us to constantly shake her blouse. She asks constantly and we have gotten used to it. Lately though she has become aggressive with us, yelling at us throwing things and she even scratched my father's arms if we do not engage her request. The problem is she also suffers from OCD. She asks over and over for us to shake her blouse and it has gotten to the point with her dementia that literally every 5 min she asks. Not sure how to handle this. If anyone can share some ideas I would appreciate it.

Welcome to the forum. I'm speculating here, but I'm a retired physician and have had several folks over the years (including my own partner) who have persistent itching sensations on their backs related to pinched nerves. It can be very focal and is always in the same place. Just wondering whether she could have something like that going on. A nerve calming medication like Neurontin(gabapentin) might be worth a try. Is she on any other meds for OCD?
