Looking for advice
I am new here. My mom has dementia/Alzheimer's. Dr told me to come here and try to find some support. I am 1 of 4 children, main caretaker of my mom. 2 brothers don't bother with her and 1 does when I beg for a break.
She has been having hallucinations and I could always focus her on something else. Now it is none stop, sometimes she thinks there are people trying to kill her, or she is getting married and they are coming to get her. All over the place with them. I asked Dr today what I should do. Do I tell her there not true or go along with them? Any words of wisdom would be so appreciated.❤️

Welcome to the forum. Delusions and hallucinations are common in advanced dementia and are often unpleasant. The doc should be offering her antipsychotic medication like Seroquel or risperdal. If he isn't, ask for a referral to a geriatric psychiatrist.

O Haye to see my mom go through this crap. My grandparents passed away in an ALF from dementia, now my mom is having signs of the same thing. It's not easy, emotionally.

My mom had similar issues and as M1 states above, Seroquel helped her very much. It doesn’t seem her current doctor is familiar with treatment of this disease. If you can’t get a geriatric psychiatrist, then you may want take her to geriatric physician instead.
You will not be able to reason with her , so I would suggest saying whatever seems to calm her until you can get proper medication. My mom thought people were climbing up to her third floor bedroom until she got stabilized on meds. She still thinks I have some sort of magical contraptions that take and hide her stuff from her.
Search some of the posts you’ll find many helpful hints.Prayers for peace.

Hello lisa, welcome to the forum. This link might help.
Sometimes our LOs will pick up on things from TV and get them mixed up with reality. So avoid the news, crime shows, etc. Sometimes something new in the environment will set them off. Have they started any new meds? Constipation or pain? All you can do really is validate the emotion and redirect/distract, and if it is not working medication is sometimes necessary. The medication might not get rid of the hallucination, but it will reduce anxiety and make it easier to redirect.
