Can anyone recommend good indoor security/spy cameras to keep an eye on my mom with my phone? Something cheap on Amazon that does the job and will arrive quickly? Thank you!

We have Blink cameras around the house. We put them up when Mom was home alone while we work, and they are an added level of security now when we have caregivers here during the day.

I and various family members have used this $25 one from Amazon to keep watch on parents with dementia: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07QKWPT8J/ref%3Dppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1

I used oneware video call off Amazon. You mom can push the green phone button and it will ring directly to your cellphone. It also has a clock that shows date and time. You are also able to view what’s going on and she will not know. It’s also a nanny cam. This worked well for me at my father’s home. I told him it was another way for us to call each other and had a calendar and clock on it. I could check it in the morning to see if he was up and keep track of what time he was getting up and going to bed. Placed it on an end table in the living room. It worked well for awhile then he started to unplug it saying it would waste electricity. The link below. Hope this helps.

Download the Geeni app for your phone. Their smart wifi outlets adaptors are sold at Walmart. But, on the app they also offer smart wifi cameras for a out $40.00 each. Also I have a Simplisafe security system that allows me to open my cameras while I'm at work to keep an eye on my mom.

Hi, we have several Wyze cameras: very easy to setup, good video, fair audio but perfect for keeping an eye on a loved one with dementia

Hi I use Ring, it has helped a lot. Especially when my mother is having her moments of accusing everyone of taking her things, that she hid, and forgot. I show her the video then she calms down.

We have installed Ring cameras throughout out downstairs to keep an eye on my mother for past two years, since the remainder of all bedrooms in our home are upstairs where we reside. Ring is very simple to set up.

You might have already bought some; but we have Dzees cameras at our home and my mom's home. The are great cameras. We have them inside and outside. The outside ones are hooked up to small solar panels (also purchased from Amazon) so we never need to charge them. If you do not decide to go that route, they charge with a C-charger (like a standard Android device).

These are just samples of what they offer: Amazon.com : Dzees Outdoor Camera Wireless, 2K Battery Powered WiFi Surveillance Camera for Home Security System with Siren Alarm & Spotlight, Motion Detection, Color Night Vision, IP65 Waterproof Cloud/SD-2-Pack : Electronics.

On some cameras we have notifications turned on and some off. You can turn the sensitivity up and down depending on where the camera is in regard to traffic or trees also.

In our area, we have enough light that the night vision works great. We have been able to identify everyone that has come around either property day or night from the camera views.

This is slightly off topic, but typically it isn't a good idea to show video evidence of a PWD' "broken" behavior. For example, a person in a forum asked if they can audio record a PWD saying something hundreds of times and play if back to them. If I was the PWD who was shown a video me walking lost in the streets, or whatever I would get distressed, especially if I (mistakenly) thought I was in good mental condition.

So it's great that it worked for your mom to show the Ring video recordings to calm her down! But if others think they can also record other bad (or odd or annoying) things, like a kettle melting on a forgotten stove, foldings dozens of napkins (but the PWD denies doing it), underwear on head, or whatever and hoping it would "fix" the PWD, I'd be careful if it will cause agitation. The brain isn't working, so won't help in many cases.

I just bought a Blink camera from Best Buy on sale for about $23. It’s also available on Amazon for about $40. It can be motion activated, but I don’t use that function since I mostly monitor night time. It pans and tilts so you can scan the room if you need to or fix it in a static location. The phone app works well, has good picture, both day/night. You can buy a subscription service which saves video clips to the cloud, but again I don’t need that and did not pay extra. I thought the price was decent at Amazon, but the lower price at Best Buy sealed the deal for me. I’ve used the camera for several weeks now and find it brings me a little peace of mind if I’m in another part of the house.
