M1, No amount of training or planning prepares us for the final days and eventual passing of a love one. My heart goes out to you. Having recently lost my DW, I can imagine your pain and grief. I'll continue to pray for both of you as you walk the final steps of her journey together.

Dear M; I am so very sorry for what is happening. I wonder if she has been checked for a UTI;. Even when someone is on Hospice, a UTI, especially if it is causing issues, the UTI is treated unless the patient is in actively dying. My LO had this happen several times while on Hospice and it was quite dramatic until the UTI was treated.
Sending warm thoughts your way,
J.

My hand in yours in the spirit realms, M1. It would seem that there are many here "sitting with you" in spirit as you sit with your dear wife. I am so sorry for your pain. I hope somehow you are able to sense our supportive, caring sentiments for you and your loved one. ~jen

THINKING OF YOU…

I'm sorry M1, It has been a very long and hard struggle for you and your partner.

I'm so sorry M1. My suggestion would be to pace yourself. From the time my mother went to only a few bites and a little Ensure we still had 2 weeks to go. Once she quit taking anything by mouth it was still 4-5 days. The last stretch is so draining and feels like it will go on forever no matter how long or short it really is. Make sure you are getting home to eat and move around a bit. Hospice should be able to tell you when it's getting close so you will know to stay round the clock if you choose to. My body was an absolute mess during this period and I was in my 30s. Please do take care of yourself. I was desperate to get around this part and the emotions and pain, but had to learn the only way is through. Thinking of you.

I'm so sorry M1. It's a helluva disease, isn't it? I know you will find the strength to get through this and be there in the best way possible for your partner. Your many messages of wisdom and caring to the rest of us have shown us that strength. Be strong for both of you!
