Support group?

I am 22 and a caregiver of my grandma with dementia and looking for a support group chat for people who are also a caregiver. I was thinking of making a discord server or instagram group chat. Please comment if interested. I would like to share info I know and get advice from others. 🙏

Hello Crystalynx and welcome to you . . . . this site IS for group sharing and getting and giving advice. If you wish, you can develop and start your own Group here on this site. Look at the underlined listings on the right side of the page . . . you can see how others have done and then if you wish, you can develop your own group.

Hi and welcome. I am sorry for your reason to be here but pleased you found this place.

Are you primary hands-on live-in caregiver for your grandmother or is your role more of a family member stepping up as part of a team effort?

Is your Instagram group chat or Discord meant to be specific to the concerns of caregiving as they impact younger adults who are in the midst of preparing for and starting careers, balancing a social and romantic life and perhaps parenting young children? There aren't many folks who fit that description post here, but they do often look for resources for younger caregivers as the demographics of this site do skew older. I could see a group for younger caregivers being useful but the folks here who have attempted it haven't seemed to get traction.

Most posters here are either caregiving for a parent(s) or a peer in the form of a sibling or spouse/SO, so we tend to be older. I suspect there aren't many here on Insta and even fewer that know what a Discord Server is. If your group would be accepting all caregivers, it would sort of be reinventing what is here and working well for those of us who post and read.

    Good luck.
