Absolutely CRAZY in the mornings

Every morning now since a month or so ..

She is totally confused, agitated, shaking, paces back and forth in the kitchen , crying, does not want to live anymore, terrified of not understanding her surroundings, does not know what to do …

Then slowly she calms herself , we supervise her while she makes her coffee, her breakfast, watch her eat ..

then at around 11 ish , she is totally normal for the rest of the day !

What is that ?

Sundowning in the morning?

Doctor just increased her antidepressant Citalopram to 10 mg a day , will it help or is it just the way the disease is affecting her .

Will she be living this morning hell every day from now on ?

She lives in an assisted living facility, with help with medication, a bit of personal hygiene etc.

She will be moved to a memory care unit as soon as we can , in the next few weeks

My question is will this be the new normal for her ?

Will having her in a memory care unit help or not ?

Anyone else experiencing morning hell ?

You cannot predict the trajectory of her disease with much accuracy, but as she progresses, she may become less reactive, but more apathetic. That was the experience of my mother

my Mom ‘Sun-upped’. We found that a combination of anti-anxiety and depression medications worked. It took a couple tries to get the right ones. She is currently on sertraline and mitrazipine. Mirtrazipine also aids with sleep.

Medications may help. Memory care may also help, if they have activities at her level that can distract her. Progression also sees the decline of symptoms from earlier stages.

My dw was like that every morning for years. Still is but now in memory care. She is extremely agitated, afraid, emotional, cries, yells and screams at me as I hold her and try to comfort her while she sobs. It's a horrible disease.
