Missing the toilet

Does any know of any devices/aids to help getting my dad to aim his pee at the toilet. My dad is completely missing the toilet. I’ve tried to work with him on sitting down to pee, but he does not remember to do it. I am having to clean the floor in three different bathrooms throughout the day.

I hope better ideas come along. The only one that came to me was the memory of being told for my grandsons they floated cheerios in the toliet to give them something to aim at during potty training.

This is a tough one. It's very possible that dementia has damaged the part of his brain used for spatial reasoning and that he just can't comply. My thought is that this is likely only going to be improved by you accompanying him to the toilet every time and prompting him to sit.

If you're not ready for that step, I would restrict him to a single bathroom day/night to limit the mess; you can reverse the knobs to lock him out.

Have you searched for other discussions on this topic. I know I have seen this come up before. Good luck.
