What I did with my husband (when he could still dress himself) was put several outfits on a drying rack so he had a few to choose from, keeping the rest locked up in closet. After a couple of days, I grabbed whole lot to wash, replacing them with another set of outfits. I figured he wasn't doing anything especially strenuous, so it didn't matter if he wore the same shirt. He used to change a couple of times a day and I just let him.

Lanie, you may have to change your expectations of what is acceptable. At least she is still taking her own clothes on and off. My partner wears the same clothes continuously and will only accept a change if/when i can coax her into the shower maybe once a week. she won't let the aides in her facility help her change.

Your mother is in assisted living, is she not? She may need a higher level of supervision than she's receiving, and it will probably cost you more. Or memory care may be necessary-but as my experience shows, even there they will not force a recalcitrant resident to do things they don't want to do.
