it’s scary for sure when we see our rock crumbling before our very eyes 😔the first thing I did after noticing forgetfulness was get a real diagnosis from our Neurologist. That was not easy but there is one blood test and PET scan only that truly can give you a diagnosis. After that I began trying to learn all I can about this horrible disease. I guess we have been traveling this road for about 4 years, last year we finally got the PET scan. They do have meds for early onset which is what we immediately got on.
today he no longer drives, he knows he can’t remember and it really makes him feel bad. I just change the subject and suggest other options, yard work, simple things. Mostly I’m trying to learn all I can about the best way to communicate with him.
it’s not an easy road, and I especially hate it when people say” it’s only going to get worse “ as I watch his decline. But we still play cribbage every night and watch the same show over and over, his worst fear is being a burden to me. Ask for help, don’t be afraid to tell family and friends, they can help, take care of yourself, try to laugh a little, my prayers are with you🙏
