Just to hopefully comfort you about her maybe feeling better at your home. My mom has completely forgotten that she lives with us and often refers to our home as either the hospital or a hotel. This is not easy at all. As long as she is safe that is what is most important.

wow @mrsabaldwin thank you! That does help so much. I wonder if we all think we could be doing this better? It is so true. I was so worried that she would feel alone, afraid, and angry because her room is so small and others are clearly on the dementia journey. She actually likes the oddly elegant simplicity of her room (she had way too much crap in her other place), and thinks her parents bought it for her when she was younger “in case something like this happened.”

Ironically, she seems WAY more relaxed. A lot has to do with atmosphere. The staff are kind even in the way they deal with her toileting and changing. It’s funny, other residents are closer to where she is mentally than I thought. They have struck up friendships. By design everyone is in later stages but they find ways to connect. So much better than the last place, especially toward when she left! The only sad thing is she likes visiting in her room or staying on the floor. I guess it is normal she would start wanting to go out less. The key - and what fills my heart with relief - is thar she does seem to feel safe, which she did not before.

I hope you and your family are holding up ok, and thank you again 😌
