Won't bathe

My dad has been receiving home hospice for 2 months now. So far he has been cooperative with the CNA bathing him 3x/WK. But today he outright refused being bathed and said he can do it himself. He is wheelchair bound and a fall risk. My mom can't do it herself. The nurse will come back tomorrow and see if he calmed down. If not, hospice can't force him and I guess I will assist my mom to bathe him, if he will allow us. If he shows resistance to hospice care, will he be discharged from their care? How does hospice deal with difficult clients?

I wouldn't discharge him from hospice over bathing. Im lucky if i can coax my partner to clean up and change clothes once a week. There are others here who literally never bathe but get by with wet wipes.

My mother experienced the same behaviors with her bath nurse in the beginning. It became easier to give her a sponge bath when I began to assist. She is combative and does better with the two of us.
