some sort of shadowing

DH diagnosed with ES recently, but after reading more and paying attention to what is actually happening to him, he is probably at stage 4 or so. For some time now, he has been staring at me. I find it quite annoying but haven't said anything. More recently, he has been coming up behind me and kissing me on the top of my head and being more affectionate than since our honeymoon days. (Married 65 years). While we both have a TV, he now insists on watching TV with me in the evening. Six months ago he would go watch sports on his TV. From what I am reading, this may be a form of shadowing. So far,it is tolerable, but what's next?

Sounds like you are correctly identifying this behavior. By the way i think you mean early stage, rather than early onset? If married sixty five years he's obviously older than 65.

shadowing can become extreme, and hypersexuality is a thing that can get of hand and interfere with care if outside caregivers/other women get targeted. Medications can help tamp this down, don't hesitate to bring it up to his doctors if necessary. Part of the TV thing may be that he's not able to work the controls, but he's probably looking to you more and more as scaffolding, too.

Yes, I did mean ES. I would never have even recognized it as anything other than being annoying if not for this site. I did see that he was more needy/clingy but had not associated it with ALZ. Appreciate the correction and the validation.
