Won't keep diaper or underwear on

I care for my 71 year old sister who won't flush the toilet or keep and undergarments on. She's leaving trails on my carpet and her room stinks. I'm very new at this and don't know how to help her. Any info will be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum. You can get clothes that fasten in the back that she won't be able to take off—look at buckandbuck.com. But that will put you in charge of toileting and changing her. Incontinence issues are frequently what drive placement in a facility.

Wish I could afford a facility! We have an unusual arrangement and I'd probably have to sell my home for funds, so I'm looking at alternatives. I'll check it out anyway and thanks.

If you aren't comfortable sharing your "unusual arrangement" here, perhaps you need to consult a Certified Elder Law Attorney in your state to discuss Medicaid options as a safety net. Calling the 800 number associated with this site might be useful as well— ask for a "Care Consultant" when you do.
