Darkness today
Dementia is torture. It is agony. It chips away bit by bit. It will take tiny pieces for awhile and then it takes a big shocking hunk that makes you feel like you can't breathe.

And hope for the future is GONE. My son keeps reminding me: "Mom, Dad's condition is only going in one direction." It is very hard when hope is gone.

Yes, and it goes on and on and on.
Piece by piece by piece.
It is a f—king, ugly, horrible, disease. Those of us who love those who have it often find ourselves crying at unexpected times.
Hi hits us again, and again, and again.
Just about the time you get things under control, it changes and you adapt, and adapt, and adapt.I hold on to our love and refuse to let the disease take that away and fear for the day it may.
I feel for those who understand and live with this.7 -
Hello PKidd, So well said. Hold on to taking one day at a time, focus on what blessings you have had and still have in your life and know that the darkness you feel today can clear - maybe this afternoon or tomorrow. I go through really dark times when all hope is lost, then the next day or two it lightens for a while. Take care, know you are not alone and keep praying for strength and wisdom.

So sorry, and can totally relate. Like Denise1847 said, it can change this afternoon or tomorrow…I go through a few good days and feel like I can handle it and then, wham, from nowhere things turn horribly bad…no way to predict it or head it off. Hang in there…

it astonishes me that for all the so-called "help" there is out there, there is no real help.
