Behavior change in dad, how to help?

My dad is 80yo, ALZ/VD and in AL. He is stage 5 (DBAT) and so far has always known who I am. My husband, son, dog and I stopped in to visit him. He was sitting in one of the common areas. We came in and said “hello!”, and I let him know it was me (just in case). He looked crossly at all of us and said “I want to be alone.” That’s all he said. So we sat there quietly for a little bit and he seemed to grow more agitated as we did, so after 5 minutes we left. On the way out I asked his care team if he was ok and they said he was “just grumpy today”. This is new behavior, he is usually a social guy. Maybe all of us at one time was overwhelming? Have any of you had this experience with your loved one as well?

hey! I think I experienced this for the first time today…I FaceTimed my mom and she was not her usual self. I could tell she just didn’t want to talk. She did have 3 visitors today and I chalk is up to that.

I definitely think it may have been overwhelming for your dad. We all have good days and bad.
