Begging to get her out!!
This group has been soooo helpful in getting us to where we are now .
We were finally able to take our 93 year old , mid stage Alzheimer to a semi-autonomous residence , the transition was smooth , she accepted the situation, admitting that she could not live alone anymore .
After 5 days, all hell broke loose .. she is accusing us of putting her in prison , she is locked up in her room, begging for us to get her out ,that the staff are like police, she is crying , screaming, says she has bleeding hemorrhoids, no doctor will see her, etc… it is absolutely heart breaking 💔
Sister is on her way today, will talk to the staff first
Will this last forever ?
Is this the kind of dementia she has , always agitated, suspicious, crying ?
Should we be more present? Or will it just aggravate her more .
We where under the impression that things would calm down now that she is in a “place”
Please share your experience ..and how it turned out , not sure what to do anymore 😩

I don't have direct experience, but from reading this forum, I ask whether the PWD has been given any medications to address these conditions. If not, perhaps that will help. But I don't want to assume that medication is always the first thing to turn to. The staff may have more experience on how to calm patients.

My cousin was like this, begging for me to come and get her, and she was in her own home. This was the time when she had 24 hour caregivers. When I telephoned her, she always was upset, but when I called back and spoke with the caregivers, she was already occupied with something else. I think my telephone calls were triggering, so for a while I cut back and only spoke with the caregivers. She would beg me to call her long deceased sister for her to come get her, so I knew she was living in her world. I lived out of town from my cousin.

find out from the staff how she is with others…she may just be acting out with you. in which case, I would commiserate with her, but say that ‘the doctor’ wants her there til she is ‘better’. if she is agitated by family, limiting contact temporarily my be a solution
