Peace to you both.

The uncertainty is so hard... We really thought my partner was on a steep downhill slide and actively dying at the end of june, but now she's stabilized. So it just goes on....

so, we have now just concluded the 14th day of our vigil, and the 12th day on morphine with no food or water. DHs brain was always the only problem, and he physically has always been extremely healthy. I think for that reason his body is just not giving up. We've done all the saying goodbyes, staying with him, not staying with him, and everything else people tell us you need to do so that they feel okay to go. He decided to be a stubborn Austrian/German till the very end, which I know will come eventually……on his own time

An hour after my last post I received the phone call that my dear husband of 38 years had taken his last breath. My heart is breaking, and I'm trying to figure out how I pick up the pieces and start again.
