Our dog of 13 years is struggling and I believe it is time to let him go. DH loves this dog. Should I tell him that he fell asleep and didn’t wake up or tell him the dog is in rehab to help him walk? Has anyone had experience with this they can share?

Thank you

my wife’s 17 yr old chihuahua was in failing health. My wife is about 7yrs in. I tried to make her as big a part of the decision. When she agreed our dog couldn’t suffer any more, I engaged a local service with a vet that comes to the house and assist with the whole process. The folks were awesome, caring and supportive. We put the dogs ashes in a box on the mantle with a little picture. She was able to grieve and be sad.

depends on whether he will remember the dog passed. If not, I wouldn’t tell him. You will have to tell him over and over and each time he will grieve. Sometimes better to fib. So sorry.
