Finally got a free 15min phone consultation with elder law this coming Monday. Mom gave me her car so I have to drive her everywhere. I have been getting info on several AL facilities around town. Mom is admitting she needs my help more and more. I see my parents 3-4 days a week now. She is starting to trust me and sharing financial information to get ready when I'm POA. I need to get her to see her doctor to declare her incompacitated. Uncle in Canada is also aware of my parent's dementia and is planning a visit to see us. Wish everything can be done immediately but that's not how things happen.

Be careful with the car. Any gifts can cause problems for Medicaid eligibility if needed down the road. Definitely something to bring up with the lawyer. I hope it goes well.

Although my parents gave me their car, I did not cancel their insurance yet and my dad's DL expired but he won't be happy when he can only get a state ID.
