It sounds like you are doing a great job. I don't see anything here to regret—the most important thing is the lawyer and you are working on that. Expressing your concerns to her is unlikely to be helpful, so you're on the right track there—when you get the appt with the neurologist you don't have to start expressing your concerns then either—just explain that she has a doctor's appointment. If she has a lot of questions you can say it's a new doc, "you know how it is lately, every time you get someone new." Fewer explanations (and more vague) can be very helpful.
Remember, your parent isn't the person that will experience horrible life consequences—they already have Alzheimer's. You are the person whose life you need to protect, and you are on a good track.
