Seeking Easy To Understand Printed News Sources

I am a therapist working with a person with Alzheimers who has a great interest in the upcoming election however they have found news articles from the NY Times difficult and overwhelming to comprehend. I am seeking suggestions of newspapers/magazines with very simple, easy to understand verbiage about the candidates and what they each stand for. If you know of anything please let me know. Thank you.

"The Week" magazine comes to mind. Articles are short and easy to read.

The NYT is written on about a 10th grade reading level.

My mom gets The Week. I wouldn't say the reading level is as low as say 5th grade, but the individual articles are typically short and concise. The Week partners with schools for use in middle and high school classrooms, so I would guess the writing is at a 6th grade level mostly. Back in the day, it was said that most small hometown daily newspapers were written at a 5th grade level.

There's also The Week Junior which is targeted to 8-14 year olds.
