New antipsychotic just approved

this is an fyi, not sure how relevant, but was reading about a new antipsychotic just approved (I think brand name is Cobify perhaps?) with a novel mechanism of action that is being touted as a “game changer “ for schizophrenia and being evaluated for use in dementia related psychosis also. Apparently doesn’t have side effects that a lot of the older drugs have (weight gain, increased blood sugar, diabetes). So be on the lookout, off label use starts as soon as approval happens, it will be interesting to see if it proves useful….

Edited to add:Cobenfy is the name, and of course cost will be high. But no black box warning for the elderly (yet)
