Can't wake her up. Has this ever happened to anyone?

While visiting my mom who has moderate dementia she fell asleep sitting on the couch next to me (she was snoring). When it was time for bed I went to wake her up and she would not wake up. My dad and I were shaking her, talking to her, laying her down on the couch but she never opened her eyes or responded to us in any way. I finally called the paramedics who also could not awaken her. They tried standing her up and she would just go down(they were holding on to her). All her vitals were perfect. One EMT suggested they just carry her to bed and let her sleep. My dad was to concerned and wanted her checked out so they took her to the ER. By the time I got to the ER she was awake and back to her baseline. Everything was normal. No abnormal labs or EKG. Her PCP had no explanation for it. Is this type of behavior common in patients with Alzheimer's?
