Yes—Mom had a UTI/ fall/Afib, hip replaced, and of course the plan is for rehab, which I suspect will be of no help given her current state.

I don't think you could customize a path to an end that she would find abhorent if you tried.

    This is ridiculous.

So sorry. Is hospice an option? Agree that rehab is likely futile.

Thank you. I felt like it would be a fall more than anything else that would catch up with us—Mom's been unsteady on her feet for years and refused assistive tools, and now she can't remember to use one. They want us to see if she can regain strength to be able to get up with a two-person assist and do a pivot, in which case her MC can take her back. I'm planning to initiate hospice evaluation either way, but am being encouraged to at least attempt rehab for a few weeks to have a better idea of placement options. Just frustrating to watch, plus waiting for the next dementia-related difficulty to rear its ugly head is never fun. Guessing it will be another fall.

I'm waiting for the same, in exactly the same pickle, she can't remember to use a walker and back is too bad to sit in a wheelchair. Was thinking to myself this morning that I'm amazed we've made it for a couple of months now without a fall. Though there are unexplained bruises that show up every now and then.

keep us posted when you can.

Mom’s gone a few months without a fall after having 3 in 4 months. I am sure another will eventually happen as she wanders away from her walker in her apartment. Which means she’s hanging onto the wall or furniture. The only way mom could do rehab is because there are PTs on-site at the assisted living facility - but she wouldn’t remember to do the exercises between sessions.
