Numbers items

Hi I'm new to this group. My mom has some form of dementia going on we have not got to the neurology evaluation yet. Just wondering if anybody else's loved ones number things. Like shoe number one and shoe number two, the shirt is number nine. It occurs with food and pretty much everything for the past few weeks. Had a recent UTI which is cleared up now and the CAT scan which was normal. No stroke etc. Been trying to find information about this on the internet without luck so figured I would try here.

Welcome ! yes, my HWD/alz does this with his hats, the dining room chairs and his books . It was one of the early quirks that has carried on and he is now stage 6. ( according to the DBAT /Tam Cummings staging tool) . You found a good place to ask questions.

Thank you for responding, so appreciate it. I cannot figure out a pattern. Mom says I need three 8's all the time. Then she is pushing food around on plates because she doesn't have the right number to eat. It occurs with clothing and trying to get dressed too. It is baffling. Of course there are good and bad days. i need this community to ask questions of, again thanks.
