My brother

I just heard from his doctor's office. The doctor doesn't believe that my brother is impaired in any way and he won't do anything to restrict his driving. He seems to think that the MMSE that he administered supercedes the more thorough neuropsychological testing that was done in August. I'm done. There isn't a blasted thing that I can do at this point.

so sorry you’re having to go through this. I had similar situation with my dad’s PCP. It wasn’t until the police took him to a behavioral health crisis center and they deemed him unsafe to be alone before his dr would re-evaluate and diagnose. Then I was finally able to get him signed into MC. And no longer driving. All I can tell you is the system is flawed and you’ve done all you can do. A turning point will come. Hang in there. Sending caring vibes your way.

It really is frustrating. His doctor referred him to a neuropsychologist, but he apparently doesn't believe what the neuropsychologist said. So, now we have to wait for the worst to happen before action can be taken. The system is broken.

it’s so hard. You don’t want anyone to get hurt or worse. But it’s set up to where it almost has to for anyone to pay attention. Detrimental to everyone’s health including your own.
Hoping for the best for you and your brother.

In my state you can report someone you don’t think should be driving on line. I’ve also read that if someone has been diagnosed car insurance may no longer cover him. I hope everything works out.

I did report him to DMV. They sent him a form for his doctor to complete. The doctor has completely dismissed the neuropsychological testing. He said that my brother should have no driving restrictions. I've done all that I can do.
