Welcome! There is a lot of wisdom on this board. Read a lot, but don't hesitate to ask questions. Thankfully, everyone is kind and supportive—we're all going through different but related "stuff."

Welcome. Sorry you have to be here. The most valuable thing about this forum for me was to validate all the feelings I was feeling - I felt more normal and less guilty. And you can vent and complain has much as you want with no judgement!

Welcome! This is a great forum. Almost everything I know about dementia, I have learned here.
First, look at the top, at the purple banner. Over to the right is a button for groups. Tap on that and scroll down to “Popular Groups”. Just under that is a group for newcomers. You’ll find a lot of info in there.Good general info:
Get all legal affairs in order while your PWD is still able to sign the documents. This includes wills, trusts, medical POA, financial POA, etc. Good idea to see a Certified Elder Law Attorney (see nelf.org and search for your location. These lawyers can help with both the legal documents and with the planning for how you would pay for long term care. Especially important if you think you will need to turn to Medicaid to pay for LTC.
Realize that your PWD has a broken brain and will not be able to change. You will have to change and adjust to their current status. I have to say, I still sometimes struggle with this and get resentful. Ah well…
Read the 36 hour Day
Read a lot of the threads on here. There is just a wealth of info in here. Not everyone’s journey is the same but there are common factors that so many of us experience.

To emphasize Pat6177's recommendations: Get the legal stuff done as soon as possible and read The 36-Hour Day

Welcome! This support group will help you in so many ways as it did me.
Great advice on all the physical changes, a place to share the bad days and the not so bad days, a chuckle here and there, and most important - not feeling so alone in this journey.
