How do I tell my DW that she needs to move to a Memory Care facility? She get angry very easily and she says she doesn't want to lose me. Our children are supportive, yet this is a very stressful time. Don't know how to handle it.

I’ve not been in this boat yet but feel I’m am getting closer and considering what MC will look like. In saying that, I’ve read many posts on this site from caregivers. Many don’t tell their LO as it can cause anxiety, stress or push back. They often tell them fiblets; hardwood floors are being stained, heating not working etc and then take them to a MC facility. It seems experienced staff meet them and take it on from there. Research this site. There are several posts that may help you. Good luck. And, curiosity, as I’m considering our next step, what stage is yr LO in?

    You don't.

Instead say something like "The doctor wants to evaluate you for a little while in this place while your arthritis heals"

    1. blame it on a 3rd party
    2. undefined short amount of time
    3. blame it on something physical

Rachael Wonderlin has excellent advice. This video is "The 3 BEST things to say when transitioning someone to a Dementia Care Community

That is a really good and simple video. I can see that approach working with my DH when the time comes. Thankyou
