"Child" proofing cabinets

DH is at the point where he is starting to go into cabinets looking for things. Any recommendations? Do baby proof ones work or will he be able to open them? Any ideas will be so helpful. Thank you all.

I moved dangerous items out of the kitchen, bathroom, etc and into areas that were not easily accessible. Medications, chemicals, cleaning agents, sharp objects, etc. Matches. The junk drawer was a good place for stuff he could examine and 'play with.' At the same time I limited his access to the upstairs (with a gate at the bottom of the stairway) and the basement (installed a lock and kept the key to myself).

I put magnetic locks on the knife drawer, med cabinet, and cleaning supply cabinet. Easy to install (they use 3m adhesive) and I was able to place the magnet key on the top of the fridge (bc he never looks up). I do recommend getting an extra key - my husband’s aide accidentally locked the key in the knife drawer.

baby locks might work if placed high up on the cabinet. I read that people with dementia don’t look up. Never had to test that though. I just moved things and hid them.
