Microaspirations

Anyone know much about microaspirations in late stage Alzheimer’s? Dad developed a wet cough a few weeks ago. Doctors said it was microaspirations, which is the next phase in decline, but now the caregiver is saying his cough is gone. Do the coughs come and go? I kinda figured once they started, they just continued?

Brez, I am not sure, but I tried to look it up. I did find: If you aspirate without noticing (silent aspiration), it can be problematic as you might not realize the extent of the issue. Maybe make sure he isn't aspirating but without the cough. Sorry I don't have a better answer.
