It’s over
MIL died early this morning. At the moment I’m feeling profoundly relieved and grateful that her journey is done. I know there’s a host of emotions waiting for me but just now I’m going to enjoy a little peace.
It’s early morning here and I’ll wait til family members are up to call them. But the funny thing is I wanted to make sure I told you first - truly my online family. I am so grateful to you.

I am sorry for the loss of your dear mother-in-law. Your affection and admiration of her was evident in all you wrote here— I'm sure she felt that.

So sorry for the loss. I would say what you are feeling is normal. I remember grandfather felt like a weight was lifted off his shoulders. So yes, a weight lifted, but at the sane time, there is the loss.
She was blessed to have you watching out for her.

Peace and strength to you at this expected, but unpredictable time. You have been providing her with such loving care and fulfilling her request for your support. What an awesome testament to your MIL and to you as trusted DIL. May your memories of better days shine through the grieving process, in time. What an amazing caregiver. That's the best one can hope for with the dementias and you did that for her. Bless you.
