Donepezil & Memantine your opinions

my wife has been on Memantine about 6 months Nurologist added Donepezil anyone use both at same time ???

My DW has been using both for about 6 months now. She seems to tolerate them OK. She take the Donepezil at night because she says it makes her brain fuzzy if she takes it in the morning. She takes the memantine morning and evening.

This combination is common practice. My wife is on 10mg Memantine twice per day, and 23mg Donepezil at night. Has been for years.

My wife has been on both since 2017. Her PCP and two neurologists described this as the best treatment available.

my HWD/Alz is on donepezile but did not tolerate memantine. He was a different type of “ mean” while on it and was better once tapered off of it.

This is so common there is a medication that combines both in a single capsule called Namzaric. Since there is no generic form of the combined formula, most people are prescribed them separately as it's much cheaper.

DH on both-Memantine twice a day and Donepezil once at night. Truthfully, who knows if there is any benefit but he tolerates it well and in his mind it is likely to “cure” his issues. I feel it is all we have so if it does no harm, then he will stay with it unless he chooses to stop.
