Bedsores are almost inevitable as the skin breaks down due to inactivity and the progression of the disease. DH is in Stage 7 and has had them on his buttocks due to sitting in his Broda chair. The hospice doctor prescribed a medicated ointment which the facility aides applied at each diaper change. While he had the sores, orders were in place to adjust his position every two hours, and he is placed in bed each day after lunch to prevent more bedsores from forming.
